During the great civilization of Ancient Rome, personal hygiene and body care was of great importance in daily life. Thermal baths became widespread allowing Romans to wash every day and although the substances they used, such as soda, lye and rock were crude they were effective. Together with the use of scented oils, good for combating dryness of the skin whilst giving the whole body a pleasant aroma, these substances relieved fatigue from hard work, especially after the long walk to the Forum.

Today, Rome’s attraction continues to grow; the many cultural centres and the vast expanses of historic parks are just some of the sights visitors can admire at leisure by walking around this great city. The “Ancient Roman Ritual” at the Wellness Zone begins with a relaxing warm footbath of volcanic stones, essential oils and flower petals. After an exfoliation with an energising blend of oils, sea salts and flowers, a relaxing mask will cocoon feet in a thin paper wrap. The ritual continues with a reflexology massage and ends with an application of moisturising, aromatised balms to create a sensation of lightness and relief.
